The Game —
- Oregon State concludes the season by hosting Oregon Friday afternoon at Reser Stadium. The Civil War brought to you by PacificSource Health Plans, Spirit Mountain Casino, Safeway/Albertsons, Your Local Toyota Dealers and First Interstate Bank is scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. PT start.
- The game is scheduled to air on FS1.
- Every game this season can be heard live via the TuneIn application, which is available online and on smartphones and tablets. To find the game, once the app has been downloaded, search "Beaver Sports Network."
- Oregon leads the all-time series 64-47-10, and has the advantage in Corvallis, 30-20-6.
- Oregon State and Oregon first met in 1894, a 16-0 win by the Beavers in Corvallis. The teams have played in every season dating back to 1945. Since that first game in 1894, the teams have failed to play in only four years - 1900, 1901, 1943 and 1944.
- The home team won every game played between 1998 and 2006. That theme has picked up the past two seasons, with OSU winning at Reser Stadium in 2016 and UO at Autzen Stadium last season.
- OSU holds a 21-19-10 mark all-time in games decided by 10 points or less. Three of the last five games between the teams have been decided by 10 points or less.
- Head Coach Jonathan Smith was 2-2 against Oregon in games he played in the Civil War between 1998 and 2001. He won both games played in Corvallis, including a 44-41 double overtime game versus the Ducks in 1998.
- Three Beavers reached milestones in the game versus UW: Isaiah Hodgins (1,000 career receiving yards), Timmy Hernandez (100 career catches) and Jermar Jefferson (broke the Oregon State single-season rushing record by a true freshman and heads into Friday with 1,316 yards).
Versus The Ducks —
- Jonathan Smith passed for 304 yards on 17 completions - 28 attempts - in the 1998 double overtime win over Oregon. Included in that tally is a 75-yard pass to Greg Ainsworth, the longest by an Oregon State quarterback in the Civil War.
- Special Teams Coordinator Jake Cookus had a big day in the Beavers' 23-13 win in the 2000 Civil War. He picked off three passes from Oregon quarterback Joey Harrington.
- Lyle Moevao's 374 passing yards against UO in 2007 marks the most ever by an OSU QB against the Ducks. He also threw for five touchdowns, one of just six OSU QBs with five or more in a single game.
- Andre Harris made 20 tackles against Oregon in 1987, which ranks fourth at OSU.
- Ryan Nall's 174 rushing yards in the 2015 Civil War is the most by an Oregon State player in the series. That surpassed Dave Schilling's 173 yards in 1970. Bill Enyart's 37 rushing attempts in 1968 ranks as No. 1 versus the Ducks - he totaled 168 yards in that game.
- Bob Cornelison (123 yards) and Sam Baker (111) both hit the 100-rushing yard plateau versus Oregon in 1950 - a 14-2 Oregon State win. - It's one of 16 times the Beavers have had two players with 100 or more yards in the same game.
- The 81 yards allowed in 1942 ranks as the second-fewest in a conference/league game, just four shy of 77 allowed versus Washington State in 1945. The Beavers won that 1942 game, 39-2.
- Twenty-four years later, in 1966, the Beavers won 20-15 and held the Ducks to negative-24 yards rushing. It's the second-fewest ever allowed in a game and the fewest versus a conference foe.
- The Nov. 23 date of this year's Civil War is the earliest on the calendar since the 2005 game was played on Nov. 19.
Â
Speaking Of Hernandez —
- Wide receiver Timmy Hernandez was named an Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 selection last week. He is majoring in mechanical engineering and is chasing a minor in aerospace engineering and is scheduled to graduate in December.
- Hernandez is now eligible to be named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) as that team will be announced in early December. Voting is done by sports information directors across the country.
- Hernandez is vying to become the first Beaver to be named an Academic All-American since Aaron Koch was named second team in 1999.
Â
On Jermar —
- Jermar Jefferson has 1,316 rushing yards this season, which now stands as the most ever by a true freshman at Oregon State. He surpassed Jacquizz Rodgers who had 1,253 in 2008.
- By gaining 115 yards against Washington, Jefferson also tied Rodgers for the most 100-yard games in a year by a true freshman. Jefferson is at seven, which is tied for third regardless of class. He trails Ken Simonton (nine in 1999) and Steven Jackson (nine in 2002).
Jefferson is the eighth player in Oregon State history to record a 1,000-yard season and it's the 16th time an OSU player has hit 1,000 or more yards. The last to do so prior to Jefferson was Jacquizz Rodgers with 1,184 yards in 2010.
- By hitting 1,000 yards, Jefferson is also the 35th player in school history to reach that mark for a career. He joins teammate Artavis Pierce, who reached 1,000 earlier this season.
- The Harbor City, Calif., native has two four-touchdown games this season, joining Ken Simonton as the only Oregon State running backs to accomplish the feat twice. Jefferson is the only player to do it twice in the same season; Simonton's came once in 1998 and once in 1999.
Â
4521 —
- The 2018 Beavers are the 14th team in school history to eclipse the 4,500 yard mark for total offense in a season.
- If the team earns its season average of 411 yards Friday it would rank 10th all-time for a season with 4,932 yards – the third-highest total for a 12-game season.
298 —
- OSU enters the game with 298 total points, 10 shy of breaking into the program's top five scoring seasons for a 12-game year.
He'd Be 1 of 3 —
- Beaver QB Jake Luton won't qualify for the Pac-12 statistics this year since he will not have played in 75 percent of the Beavers' games as required by the league.
- If he would qualify he'd be one of three Pac-12 quarterbacks with a TD-to-INT ratio of 4:1. Luton has eight touchdowns and two interceptions; he'd join WSU Gardner Minshew (36-7) and ASU's Manny Wilkins (18-4).
Flag —
- OSU ranks fourth in the Pac-12 for penalty yards per game at a comparably miniscule 52.3 yards.
- Overall the team has been issued 63 accepted penalties and that ranks as the fewest since the 1994 team ended the year with 60.
The Beavers will likely finish the year with the fewest penalties since that '94 team.
Passing It Around —
- This will be the first season OSU has had three receivers with at least 50 receptions in the same year since the 2009 team achieved that statistical feat with James Rodgers (91), Jacquizz Rodgers (78) and Damola Adeniji (57).
Moore Becoming Less - A Good Thing —
- Safety Jalen Moore is by far the leader in tackles, but as of late some of his upfront teammates have been making strides.
- Moore led the team in tackles in seven of the first eight games, but has only co-led once in the last three contests.
- Hamilcar Rashed had a team-high nine vs. USC, Shermar Smith led the Beavs with nine vs. Stanford and three different players had seven last week at Washington.
Punt Team! —
- OSU has not allowed a score the last two games on any drive that started in the fourth quarter – a combined six drives.
