Bennett, Hughes-Murray Named Student-Athletes of the Month

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State Athletics is proud to announce Haylie Bennett and Andrzej-Hughes-Murray have been named as October Student-Athletes of the Month.
Bennett, a sophomore from Philomath, Ore., is a two-year starter at opposite hitter for the Beavers' volleyball team. She recently returned to the lineup after missing two weeks due to injury and is third on the squad with 1.98 kills per set and 1.00 blocks per set. Bennett is majoring in kinesiology and intends to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner in obstetrics.
Hughes-Murray, a junior studying psychology, has started all six games at linebacker for the OSU football team this season. He has recorded 13 tackles and a quarterback hurry in 2018. Hughes-Murray is planning a career as a psychologist after his football days are done. He was a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selection as a sophomore in 2017.
Student-athletes are selected each month and are coordinated by the Academics for Student-Athletes staff.
The OSU volleyball team is on the road this week visiting Utah on Thursday and Colorado on Sunday. The Beavers return to play at Gill Coliseum next week when they host Stanford on Oct. 19 and California on Oct. 21.
The Oregon State football team is on a bye this week and returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 20 against California.
