Three Games Added to Future Football Schedule
March 07, 2017 | Football
Corvallis -- Oregon State University has added future football games with the Fresno State Bulldogs and Montana State Bobcats, Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced Tuesday.
                           Â
The Beavers and Bulldogs will begin a home-and home series starting Sept. 10, 2022 in Fresno, with FSU returning to Reser Stadium Aug. 31, 2024. The two programs have met 13 times previously, but not since Sept. 5, 2003.
Â
Fresno State joins a docket filled with "Group of 5" Mountain West Conference teams in future dates for the Beavers. OSU and Colorado State begin a home-and-home series this September in Fort Collins, a two-game slate with Hawai'i opens in 2019 in Honolulu and Boise State returns to the lineup beginning in 2022 at Reser Stadium in the first of two contests. The Beavers will also travel to Nevada for a 2018 game.
Â
Montana State appears on the schedule for the second time, but the Sept. 17, 2022, game at Reser Stadium will mark the initial meeting on the field. MSU was scheduled to play in Corvallis Sept. 15, 2001, but that game was canceled days following 9/11.
Â
The date with the Bobcats continues a theme for OSU in playing premier Big Sky Conference (BSC) Football Championship Subdivision programs. The Beavers host Portland State, Southern Utah and Cal Poly over the next three seasons and have played BSC teams in each of the last four years.
Â
"It's important that we schedule strategically with a mindset of the rigors of the nine-game Pac-12 Conference slate," Barnes said. "I believe we have developed a future schedule that will enable Beaver Nation the opportunity to travel to attractive locales and also present appealing matchups at home."
Â
In addition, OSU continues its aggressive scheduling of "Power 5" programs with the Big Ten Conference's Minnesota Golden Gophers venturing to Reser Stadium for the first time ever this September to conclude a two-game pact. The Big XII Conference's Oklahoma State Cowboys will open a home-and-home series in Corvallis in 2019.
Â
Oregon State officials also anticipate announcing further news involving the future football schedule (click for the entire schedule) in the near future.
Â
Oregon State is the midst of spring practice for the upcoming season with the annual Spring Game March 18 at Reser Stadium. Season tickets for a team that returns 55 lettermen are available for the six-game 2017 home season at BeaverTickets.com
