Center Makes Inaugural Preseason List
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State standout Marie Gulich has been named to the Inaugural Lisa Leslie Award Preseason Watch List, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Friday. Named after the three-time All-American and 1994 National Player of the Year, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top centers in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
Â
Gulich was an All-Pac-12 First Team selection last season, averaging 9.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game on the year. She is the only Oregon State player to play in all 104 games over the last three seasons, and pulled down 293 rebounds in her junior campaign, the seventh-best total in program history.
Â
A 6-foot-5 senior, Gulich highlighted her junior year with the game-winning basket vs. Stanford, helping the Beavers lock down the Pac-12 title for the third-straight season. She also pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds in the Pac-12 Tournament vs. UCLA, and posted eight double-doubles on the year. Gulich enters this season as the Beavers' only senior.
