Junior Helped Beavers Hold Pair of Shutouts
CORVALLIS – After an impressive weekend by the Oregon State back line, junior defender Allison Pantuso has been honored as Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Pantuso helped anchor and Oregon State defense that held Washington and Washington State scoreless for a combined 211 minutes over the weekend. The Beavers notched a 0-0 draw with No. 25 Washington on Thursday, before defeating Washington State in double-overtime on Sunday.
Pantuso played every minute of the week's games at the centerback position, and has started each of Oregon State's 13 games this season. This honor is the first Pac-12 weekly award for Pantuso, although the junior did earn Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week recognition after scoring a pair of goals against Portland in her collegiate debut. It is the second weekly nod for the Beavers this season, as Bella Geist was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 12.
As a team, the Beavers have notched six clean sheets this season, including five as Lorenz Field.
Oregon State will wrap up its three-game home stand Friday, when it hosts Arizona at Lorenz Field.
