Decoud Named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week
September 19, 2016 | Football
SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon State cornerback Treston Decoud was named as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference Monday morning.
Â
Decoud recorded the first interception of his Oregon State career in the first quarter of Saturday's 37-7 win over Idaho State returning it 13 yards. Midway through the third quarter, Decoud picked off his second pass of the afternoon returning it 75 yards for a touchdown.
Â
It was OSU's longest interception return since Terrence Carroll's 79-yarder vs. USC in 2000, and was the Beavers' first pick-six since Caleb Saulo's against San Jose State on Sept. 19, 2015.
Â
The senior, from Covington, La., finished the day with four tackles, two interceptions, two pass breakups and one touchdown.
Â
Decoud is the first OSU player to record two interceptions in a game since Tyrequek Zimmerman in the season-opener against Portland State in 2014.
Â
The Beavers are set to host the back end of a two-game homestand this Saturday when they face Boise State at 12:30 p.m. on FS1. Tickets for this week's game are still available at beavertickets.com.
