Jarmon Named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List
August 16, 2016 | Football
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State wide receiver Hunter Jarmon has been named to the fourth annual Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list today at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce East Texas Kick-off Luncheon.
Â
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division 1 football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
Â
The junior from Waco, Texas enters the season as an incumbent starter at wide receiver for the Beavers with eight career starts. The versatile receiver has experience both as an outside receiver as well as inside as a slot receiver and had a strong spring practice session.
Â
The Watch List announced today will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to five finalists in December. The winner will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans and the previous winner. The finalists will be invited to Tyler, Texas for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for Jan. 11, 2017.
Â
The Oregon State football program invites fans to watch the team for its second, and final, open scrimmage this Thursday beginning at 9:30 a.m. The open-to-the-public scrimmage, which was originally slated for later in the day, has been moved due heat concerns for the public as well as the student-athletes.
Â
The Beavers open the season Thursday, September 1 at Minnesota at 6 p.m. PDT in a game that will be televised by the Big Ten Network. The seven-game home schedule starts Saturday, September 17 vs. Idaho State at 2 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
Â
Tickets are available for the seven-game home schedule in many forms including the "freedom to choose" mini-plan (does not include the Civil War against Oregon) in which fans can purchase tickets to any three games at a 20-percent discount (10-percent in the Club Level) to single game prices.
Â
Other ticket plans are available including season tickets, The Terrace, SQUAD, and single-game options both home and on the road. For information on football tickets for the upcoming schedule, please contact the OSU ticket office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS during weekday business hours or beavertickets.com
