Benzin Wins WSWGA State Championship

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's golfer Olivia Benzin won the Washington State Women's Golf Association State Championship on Saturday, according to Beaver head coach Dawn Shockley.

Benzin, a rising sophomore from Tacoma, Wash., won the WSWGA State Championship for the second straight year.

Her win continues a strong summer for Oregon State women's golfers, Junior Haley Nist finished second at the McCall Women's Amateur, incoming freshman Nicole Schroeder won the CWAC California Junior Girls' State Championship and Susie Cavanagh, a transfer from UConn, claimed the Rhode Island Golf Association's Women's Amateur.

The Beavers will open their 2016-17 season at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, which will be held Sept. 11-13 in Fort Collins, Colo.
