
Almen, D'Arpino win at Hayward

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior Sara Almen and sophomore Kerissa D'Arpino won their events on Friday to lead the Oregon State track & field team at the Oregon Twilight meet at Hayward Field.
It was OSU's final competition before the Pacific-12 Conference championships, set for May 14-15 in Seattle. Each team can send 27 athletes; the Beavers placed 11th in 2015.
Almen cleared 5-8, her second-best outdoor mark of the season, and tied for first. Sophomore Amy Hilger and senior Jessica Lautenbach each cleared 5-2.25 and placed third and fifth, respectively.
D'Arpino won the 400 hurdles in 1:00.20, improving her PR by more than one-half second with the third-best time in school history. It was just her fifth race at that distance; she has shaved 2.6 seconds off her time in that span.
Junior Morgan Anderson PRed in the invitational section of the 1500 and lowered her No. 2 all-time clocking to 4:22.94, from 4:23.53.
Senior Helen Ann Haun and junior Annie Sidor went 2-3 in the pole vault at 12-5.50 to tie the school record. Haun PRed by two inches, Sidor by more than seven inches.
Junior Melissa Ausman took fourth in the discus at 165-7. Senior Rachel Picknell was seventh at 158-4, a PR by nearly four feet and the No. 2 mark in school history. They reversed their placing in the hammer.
Juniors Kristiane Width and Emily Weber went 2-3 in their section of the 1500. Width (4:29.33) PRed by more than two seconds with the No. 9 time in OSU history; Weber ran 4:30.04, a season-best by more than two seconds.
The Beavers set a school record and had six all-time top-10 marks on Friday. They have set 14 school records and have posted 54 all-time top-10 times or marks since starting the outdoor campaign at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Invitational on March 19.
