
Beavers Add Three to Football Program

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State head football coach Gary Andersen announced Friday the additions of three future student-athletes to the 2016 recruiting class. Conor Blount of Waukesha, Wis., Jaydon Grant of West Linn, Ore. and Daniel Prieto of Simi Valley, Calif. will join the football program for the upcoming season.
Blount (watch video highlights), was a three-year starter at quarterback for Waukesha West High School in Wisconsin. As a senior in 2015, the 6-1, 185-pound signal caller threw for 1,577 yards, 20 touchdowns and only one interception in helping to lead West to the Division 2 state title game. In 2014, Blount threw for 1,783 yards and 15 touchdowns with four interceptions.
Grant (video), a 6-1, 170-pound cornerback from West Linn High School, recorded 54 tackles and four interceptions in 2015. The son of former Portland Trail Blazer, Brian Grant, Jaydon played football for one season for the Lions. Grant has also played guard on the hardwood, earning All-Three Rivers League honors.
Prieto (video) threw for 3,687 yards and a school-record 47 touchdowns as a senior at Newbury Park High School in 2014. The Simi Valley, Calif. native earned Camino League MVP and All-CIF First Team as well as Ventura County First Team honors following his senior year. In 2015, Prieto attended El Camino College Compton Center, throwing for 1,514 yards and 15 touchdowns to earn second team all-conference honors and was named the Tartars' Offensive Player of the Year. Prieto will have four years to play three seasons.
The Beavers open the 2016 season at Minnesota on Thursday, Sept. 1. They begin the seven-game home schedule in new-look Reser Stadium against the Idaho State Bengals on Saturday, Sept. 17. Other home games are against Boise State (Sept. 24), California (Oct. 8), Utah (Oct. 15), Washington State (Oct. 29), Arizona (Nov. 19) and Oregon (Nov. 26).
