
Hamblin, Weisner Invited To Team Canada Camp

TORONTO – Oregon State players Ruth Hamblin and Jamie Weisner have both been named among the 24 players invited to attend Team Canada's Women's National Team Phase 1 Camp, as the selection process for the 2016 Olympics begins.
The Phase 1 Camp will run from May 21-30 at the Saville Community Centre in Edmonton. At the conclusion of the camp, a squad will be nominated to head to Spain and France for a five-game exhibition tour.
Canada will re-group on June 28th in Edmonton for the second phase of training, where they will host China for the Edmonton Grads International Classic (EGIC) from July 9th-11th at the Saville Centre in Edmonton, AB. The final phase of training will begin July 22 in Toronto, ON. The team will then head to the U.S. for an exhibition tournament before heading to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games from August 5 -22.
Hamblin and Weisner are both currently under contract with WNBA squads. Hamblin, a member of the Dallas Wings, capped off her Oregon State career this season by winning her second-straight Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honor. The AP All-America Honorable Mention is the Pac-12's career record holder for blocked shots, and holds the Oregon State career and single-season records for rebounds. She ended her career ninth in program history in career points. Hamblin's success extended beyond the basketball court, as she earned Academic and Senior Class Award All-America status.
Weisner posted one of the best seasons in program history in 2015-16. The guard was named an All-American by the Coaches' Association, and was tabbed as the Pac-12 Player of the Year. She ended her career as the sixth-highest scoring player in Oregon State history, and is among the team's top-8 in career rebounds. Weisner is currently playing with the Connecticut Sun.
