What do you want to do after you graduate from Oregon State?
Live stress free, explore new places and work in a career as an agriculture consultant.
Why did you choose to attend Oregon State?
This school has always been a part of my life since I was born into a household of die-hard beaver fans. Growing up I was always so excited to attend the football games and made it my goal to become a student here.
What do you like best about your teammates?
We like a weird competitive dysfunctional family. We are always pushing ourselves as individuals and pushing each other to become something beyond what any of us thought we were capable of. Sometimes we disagree with each other, which leads to fighting among teammates, but the disagreements give us something to build from and achieve even more out of ourselves. Most of all we support each other inside and outside of rowing.
What do you like best about your coaches?
How serious they can be and how fun they can be during competitions or practice. They care about the team performance by putting all of their focus, energy, and time to making us the fastest we can be. Lately they have been trying to raise the standard of how a student athlete should act in a professional manner, this has been a positive change from the past few years and will help the team in the future.
What do you like best about Corvallis?
It has the best of being a college town and a peaceful town at the same time.
If you could play a different college sport at Oregon State, what would it be and why?
Without a doubt I would be doing track and field. It was my favorite sport to compete in during high school, especially with it during the nice spring weather. It was fun to compete in and always trying to outdo myself. Shot-put and long jump were my best events.
What is your best athletic achievement to date?
My first race against Stanford during my sophomore year in the JV boat. My were bow to stern down on them (which is about 4 seconds behind) till the last 200 meters or so and walked up on them for the win. It was the first race I knew I gave everything I had to win.
What do you prefer head races or head to head races? and why?
Head to head races over head races any day. They are what I train and look forward to the entire year. It takes two whole terms of training just to get the racing season. Being right next to the competition and watching my boat race ahead of the other team. It has way more energy and competitiveness than a head race.
