Jamie Weisner Adds Another Big Honor
April 02, 2016 | Women's Basketball
The honors continue to build for Pac-12 Player of the Year Jamie Weisner as she is one of 10 individuals to be named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America First Team Saturday.
The senior guard from Clarkston, Wash., is the seventh player in program history to receive All-America status. She sits sixth in school history with 1,768 career points, second in 3-pointers made (252) and leads Oregon State in career 3-point percentage (41.3). One of the best rebounding guards in the Pac-12 throughout her career, Weisner has tallied 15 career double-doubles and has pulled down 715 rebounds over the course of her four years, the eighth-best total for an Oregon State player.
The senior is averaging 17.5 points per game this season, the fourth-best total in the conference, and leads all Pac-12 guards in field goal percentage at 48.8 percent. The Kinesiology major is also shooting 45 percent from 3-point range and 85 percent from the free-throw line, making her one of the most efficient players in the country.
She has played her best in the big games, going for a career-high 38 points in last Saturday's Sweet 16 matchup with DePaul. She also scored 12 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter of the Beavers' comeback victory at Stanford, and put up 25 points against both Arizona State and UCLA.
Weisner and her teammates take on top-ranked UConn Sunday at 3 p.m. in the semifinals of the NCAA Championship. Beaver Nation is encouraged to attend the free Watch Party, beginning at 2:30 p.m., in the Club Level of Reser Stadium. Concessions are available for purchase.
