CORVALLIS – Senior Jamie Weisner has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. The guard is the first Beaver earn the award this season.
Weisner started her week off with an outstanding performance against No. 8 Arizona State, going 9-for-10 from the floor on her way to 25 points. She also tallied five rebounds and three assists to help the Beavers earn a 67-44 win over the Sun Devils. Weisner followed that up with 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals at No. 24 Washington on Sunday, as Oregon State notched its second-straight win over a ranked opponent.
Weisner is fourth in the Pac-12 with an average of 17 points per game this season, and is shooting 49.4 percent from the floor, the best percentage by any guard in the conference. The Clarkston, Wash. native also reached yet another career milestone this week, scoring her 1,500th career point to become the 61st player in Pac-12 history to reach that mark.
As a team, Oregon State is tied with Arizona State for first place in the Pac-12 with a conference record of 11-1. The Beavers have won 10-straight games for the fifth time in school history, and were ranked No. 8 in the nation by the NCAA Selection Committee last Monday.
