BANDON, Ore. – The Oregon State women's golf team dropped the Second Annual Civil War to rival Oregon, 4-2, at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on Thursday.
Senior Chelsea Saelee and freshman Olivia Benzin won an alternate shot greensome in the morning round at Old Macdonald Golf Course and sophomore Hannah Swanson won a single match in the afternoon at Bandon Trails Golf Course for the Beavers' two points.
“It was a pleasure to host the second Civil War at Bandon Dunes,” Oregon State head coach Sammie Chergo said. “Over the two rounds of matches we learned a lot about where everyone's games are and what we need to do to keep improving going into the spring season.
“Olivia Benzin really stood out for us. She showed great competitiveness and leadership. As a freshman, it is clear she is committed to growing this program. I am very impressed with her overall passion for golf and work ethic.”
The teams played one singles match and two alternate shot matches in the morning and one singles match and two best ball matches in the afternoon.
The Ducks won the inaugural Civil War last year Old Waverly Country Club in Portland, Ore.
The Beavers open their spring season Sunday, Feb. 21 and Monday, Feb. 22 at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Ariz.
