Murphy Fires Career-Best 4-Under 67

QUERENCIA, Mexico -- Junior Kevin Murphy fired a 4-under 67 to lead the Oregon State men's golf team in the second round of the Cabo Collegiate on Monday.
Murphy, a native of Rogue River, Ore., majoring in business, had three birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 539-yard 15th hole for his career-best 67. The excellent round moved him 33 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 15th place with a 1-under 74-67--141.
As a team, the Beavers sit in ninth place with 18 holes to play after posting an 8-over 287-289--576 at the par-71, 6,928-yard Los Cabos Querencia.
The final round of the three-day, 54 hole tournament is Tuesday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Junior Calum Hill has been steady through 36 holes with a 1-over 72-71--143 to put him in a tie for 25th place, while junior Tyler Carlson and freshman Trevor Yu are both tied for 39th with a 4-over 146.
Georgia has an eight-stroke lead over South Florida with a 19-under 549. Taylor Moore of Arkansas and Aksel Olsen of South Florida are tied for the individual lead with a 7-under 135.
The 15-team field features 12 teams ranked among the top 34 in the latest golfstat.com's rankings.
