Two-Game Series with Colorado State Added
February 17, 2016 | Football
Continuing with a recent theme of regional football scheduling, Oregon State Vice President/Director of Athletics Todd Stansbury announced Wednesday that the Beavers and Colorado State University have agreed to play a home-and-home series.
The Beavers will travel to Fort Collins to play the Rams Sept. 23, 2017 with CSU returning to Reser Stadium Sept. 12, 2020. The two programs have met twice previously with OSU posting a 25-14 victory in Corvallis Nov. 17, 1962 and CSU scoring a 17-8 win at Fort Collins Oct. 11, 1975.
“Regional games are an important part of our non-conference scheduling philosophy,” Beaver head coach Gary Andersen said. “A series with Colorado State provides a great opportunity for Beaver Nation to support us on the road, it's a minimal travel burden for our team and provides for an attractive home game.”
Colorado State is the fifth Mountain West Conference program on the Beavers' upcoming non-conference schedule. In addition to the series with the Rams, OSU hosts Boise State this September and 2022 before a road game to Albertsons Stadium in 2023. The Beavers travel to Nevada in 2018, begin a home-and-home with Hawai'i in 2019 in Honolulu and conclude a two-game series at San Jose State in 2020. The 2017 date with Colorado State replaces a game originally scheduled as a home date vs. Nevada, but scheduling conflicts have forced that contest to be canceled.
Oregon State also has Power 5 non-conference games that begin this August at Minnesota with the Golden Gophers returning to Corvallis in 2017. The Beavers travel to The Ohio State in 2018 and have a two-game matchup with Oklahoma State beginning 2019 in Corvallis. The 2019 non-conference schedule is also now complete as Cal Poly will travel to Corvallis.
Oregon State opens the seven-game home schedule for upcoming season in the new-look Reser Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 17 against the Idaho State Bengals, followed by Boise State and Pac-12 Conference games vs. California, Utah, Washington State, Arizona and Oregon.
