November 10, 2016 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's golf head coach Dawn Shockley announced Thursday that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to join the program for the 2017-18 season.
The class includes Amanda Minni from British Columbia, Canada and Ellie Slama from Salem, Ore.
Amanda Minni
Mini attends South Delta Secondary in Delta, British Columbia where she has lettered in golf, basketball and volleyball. She won a Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event, two U17 division tournaments and one U19 CJGA event in 2015, and was a member of the North Pacific Junior Girls Team Champions and Girls Junior America's Cup in 2016.
Minni carries a 3.6 cumulative GPA at South Delta Secondary and is a member of the Honor Roll.
Dawn Shockley on Amanda Minni:
"Amanda is the type of athlete who represents who we are as a program and where we are going. She is a talented, well-respected leader who will represent our program with pride."
Minni chose Oregon State because: "Of the close proximity to my home, Corvallis is a great place to live, good conference, great coaches and a great program."
Ellie Slama
Slama attends South Salem High School and was the OSAA 6A Girls' Golf State Champion in 2016 when she was named the Girls' Prep Golfer of the Year by the Oregon Sports Awards and Mid-Valley Sports Awards. She's a two-time Greater Valley Conference champion and a three-time Statesman Journal Mid-Valley Golfer of the Year and All Mid Valley Team / All State Tournament Team.
She was also named the Pacific Northwest Golf Association Girls' Junior Golfer of the Year and Oregon Golf Association Girls' Junior Golfer of the Year in 2015 and 2016.
Slama carries a 3.86 cumulative GPA at South Salem High School and is a member of the National Honor Society and Honor Roll.
Dawn Shockley on Ellie Slama:
"Ellie has proven her talent not only locally, but nationally. We are thrilled to have her join Beaver Nation as she is a young woman who will represent our program and university with pride and passion."
Slama chose Oregon State because: "Oregon State has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. Both of my parents graduated from Oregon State, so I have been a true Beaver since day one. I absolutely love the team, the campus and the whole atmosphere of Oregon State. I am so excited to be a part of this team and play the game I love most for my favorite school. The coaches are so determined and that gives me a great confidence that this team will go far. I look forward to being a Beav!"
