KONA, Hawai'i – Haley Nist and Hannah Swanson each shot a 1-over 74 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the final round of the Pac-12 Preview on Tuesday.

The Beavers finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament in eighth place with a 34-over 297-308-305--910 at the par-73, 6,372-yard Nanea Golf Club.

It concludes a very successful fall season that saw Oregon State win the Rose City Collegiate, finish third at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational and place fourth at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic.

Junior Susie Cavanagh was the highest Beaver on the individual leaderboard, securing a tie for 15th place with a 4-over 72-74-77--223. The transfer from UConn had a solid first season with Oregon State, finishing in a tie for eighth place at the Rose City Collegiate and a tie for 27th at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational.

Nist, a junior from Meridian, Idaho, was 1 over the past two rounds after opening the tourney with a 77 to finish in a tie for 17th place with a 5-over 77-73-74--224.

Swanson, a junior from Forest Grove, Ore., had one round that kept her from a better finish, but her strong final round moved her into a tie for 41st with a 14-over 76-83-74--233.

Senior Elyse Smidinger finished in 46th place with a 16-over 75-79-81--235 and sophomore Olivia Benzin was a stroke back with a 17-over 74-82-80--236 for a tie for 47th.

No. 20 Arizona State won the event, which featured seven nationally-ranked teams, with a 2-over 878, while No. 30 Arizona was second with a 5-over 881 and No. 3 Stanford was third with a 13-over 889.

Robynn Ree of USC claimed medalist honors while competing as an individual with a 6-under 213, two strokes better than UCLA's Mariel Galdiano (8-under 215).

The Beavers will open their spring season on Saturday, Feb. 4 when they compete against Oregon in the Civil War Match Play at Portland Golf Club in Dam City.
