Isaac Seumalo Declares for the NFL Draft
January 06, 2016 | Football
Oregon State offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo announced Wednesday that he will forego his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.
Seumalo played three seasons for the Beavers, redshirting in 2014 due to injury. He started all 37 games in which he played, including 23 at center, 10 at right guard and two each at right and left tackle.
A four-star recruit out of Corvallis High School, Seumalo earned Pac-12 All-Conference honors three times, both athletically and academically. He was a Freshman All-America in 2012 and was named to the Rimington, Outland and Lombardi Award preseason award watch lists multiple times.
The Corvallis native becomes the sixth Beaver to enter the draft early, joining current NFL players Steven Jackson, Brandon Browner, Jacquizz Rodgers, Brandin Cooks and Scott Crichton. The Draft is scheduled for April 28-30.
The 2016 Signing Day Celebration is February 3. Registration for one of the highlights of the winter is open. For more information contact Our Beaver Nation at 541-737-2370.
Season ticket information for the 2016 season will be announced in January. For more information go to beavertickets.com or call 1-800-Go-Beavs during business hours.
Isaac Seumalo Statement – January 6, 2016
"After careful consideration and talking with my family I have decided to forego my senior season at Oregon State and enter the 2016 NFL Draft. Corvallis has been home to my family since I was in seventh grade, and attending Oregon State and playing football for the Beavers has been an honor and a privilege.
The opportunity to play in the NFL has been a childhood dream for me, and I feel Oregon State has prepared me well to take this next step and embrace the challenge. I intend to make the University and all of its supporters proud of my effort to represent them well. I want to thank Oregon State for an incredible education, and the community of Corvallis for the great support of Beaver football.
I am forever grateful for the football and strength coaches that were put into my life and helped me become the man and player I am today. I also want to give a special thank you to the training and recovery staff that helped me during the health battles I suffered through my career.
To my teammates, you are the reason this decision was so hard to make. You are family to me and I am humbled to have been on this journey with each of you.
Fa'afetai tele lava and alofa atu Oregon State (thank you and I love Oregon State).
Go Beavs!"
