Parking & Traffic Info For 2015 Opener
August 26, 2015 | Football
CORVALLIS — As the Beavers prepare for their 2015 football debut on Friday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m., fans and the campus community are reminded of adjusted parking for the home opener and new post-game traffic management for the full season that will be in place.
Oregon State University – in cooperation with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the city of Corvallis – will again utilize an expanded traffic management plan for the 2015 football season to improve traffic flow immediately after each home Beaver football game.
The traffic management plan was initiated last year for the final two games of the season to address post-game traffic delays around Reser Stadium and by providing improved traffic flow and access to state highways leaving Corvallis. Specific roadways include- Philomath Highway, the bypass bridge over the Willamette River, and signalized intersections along Highway 34 and Highway 99 West.
“This traffic management plan is our part of continued effort to improve the safe return home for all our fans,” said Todd Stansbury, Oregon State vice president and athletics director. “The plan will be reviewed following each game as we continue to serve our community, fans, loyal donors and Beaver Nation overall.”
The postgame egress traffic management plan will direct fans and travelers on to two eastbound lanes heading across the Willamette River via Highway 20/34-Philomath Boulevard bypass to a recently improved and expanded intersection where Highway 34 and the bypass meet. As well, improved signal operations along Highway 99W, Highway 20 and Highway 34 will be in effect at numerous intersections in and around Corvallis following each home football game.
Stansbury said the traffic plan will improve community livability following each home game by reducing congestion, minimizing traffic on neighborhood local streets, and improving access to downtown and Corvallis area businesses and community attractions following games. The plan is being implemented in conjunction with OSU Athletics, ODOT and the City of Corvallis.
Fans are also encouraged to access several public transportation options when attending Beaver football games at Reser Stadium.
