Corvallis, Ore. – Junior guard Gabriella Hanson matched her career high with 19 points to lead Oregon State to an 80-43 victory over Cal Poly on Monday before a Gill Coliseum crowd of 2,716.
"I absolutely loved our defense today," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "Cal Poly is a team that is used to winning a lot of games and they are very well coached. We got off to a slow start offensively, but the defense was so good that it didn't really matter. Then in the second quarter, it was nice to see us get into a rhythm. Overall this was a nice bounce-back win for us. I really like the grit and togetherness our team played with today."
The 11th-ranked Beavers (9-1) broke the game open by outscoring the Mustangs (6-6) 49-16 in the second and third quarters. OSU led just 12-8 after the first period.
Hanson was 7 of 15 from the field, was 4 of 6 on 3-pointers and added six rebounds and two assists in a solid all-around performance. She also scored 19 points against Oregon on Jan. 13, 2014, during her freshman season.
Senior guard Jamie Weisner added 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals and sophomore forward Marie Gulich matched her career high with 14 points. She also had eight rebounds to pace OSU's 54-27 advantage.

OSU led 12-8, 36-17 and 61-24 at the quarter stops. The Beavers blocked 11 shots and held Cal Poly to 0-for-9 beyond the arc. It was the second game in a row the Beavers did not surrender a 3-point basket.
