Quotes from Pac-12 Media Day
October 14, 2015 | Women's Basketball
Head Coach Scott Rueck
Opening statement…
“We've got a team of outstanding individuals. To get to go to work with them, and to watch them grow and mature has been incredible. They've set the bar very high in the way they've represented themselves, Oregon State and the Pac-12 Conference. We had an amazing year last year, and we know the expectations for this season are high. This group is one that will embrace that challenge, and handle it well. This conference is a ridiculous group of coaches and players to compete against, and we're excited for the year that's coming up.”
On the experience the team gained last season…
“The talent is there, the experience is there, and now the experience handling success is there. We learned some lessons last year that will carry over to this year. I'm excited to see that leadership in action.”
On how the team has improved in the offseason…
“I think this team has definitely matured physically and mentally. I'm excited to see what this team will bring to the floor. Jeff Macy is an outstanding strength coach, and he did a great job with this team in the offseason. With the way last year ended, we're coming into this year really hungry.”
Senior Ruth Hamblin
On entering the season with a target on their back…
“Last year we got to experience what it was like to have the bull's-eye on our backs. I think we can learn from that. We're excited to get out on the court and compete for every possession.”
On how she's developed over the last four year…
“It's crazy the way I've developed over these last four year. After coming to Oregon State as a small-town girl from Canada, I never thought things would go this way. I've been challenged as a player, as a student and as a person through my time at Oregon State and it's been an amazing experience.”
