TUCSON, Ariz. – The sixth-ranked Oregon State baseball team found itself down early Saturday and was unable to overcome Arizona's early advantage in an 11-2 loss at Hi Corbett Field.

The Wildcats pushed ahead early, 2-0, with a two-run double by Trent Gilbert in the first inning. Arizona added to the lead with a four-run third; the 'Cats sent eight to the plate during the inning and scored the four runs off five hits, two of which went for extra bases.

OSU (20-6 overall, 5-3 Pac-12 Conference) scored its lone run in the sixth. The Beavers loaded the bases against Arizona (12-17, 2-6) starter Cody Hamlin, and scored when Logan Ice drove a fly ball to center, enabling Dylan Davis to come in from third.

Arizona scored one run in the seventh and four in the eighth to get to the 11-run mark.

Oregon State started Andrew Moore and the right-hander took the loss to fall to 2-2 on the year. He allowed 10 hits and six runs in three innings before being relieved by Zack Reser.

Hamlin earned the win for the Wildcats and improved to 4-2 this season. The right-hander worked 8 2/3 innings, allowing 12 hits and two runs.

Ice, Dylan Davis and Jeff Hendrix all had two hits to pace the Beavers, with Davis adding a two-out run-scoring double in the ninth.

Gilbert, Zach Gibbons and Kevin Newman all had three to lead the Wildcats.

The teams complete the series Sunday with a 12:05 p.m. PT first pitch at Hi Corbett Field. The game can be seen live on the Pac-12 Networks.
