Last Season
Oregon State jumped out to an early lead in Sunday's 14-6 victory over Pacific. The Beavers took an 8-1 lead after four innings and pushed the lead to 14-2 after seven. Michael Conforto drove in five runs in the win, while Dylan Davis totaled three. Scott Schultz picked up the win after allowing just six hits and two runs over seven innings. It was just his fourth career start.
It's Quality
Andrew Moore, Jace Fry and Scott Schultz have combined for three quality starts to open the season. The trio has combined for a 2.25 earned run average in 20 innings of work in the team's first three games. Better yet, they've walked only three in those 20 innings.
Speaking Of Walks
The Beavers come into Monday's game having drawn 21 walks over the last two games after taking 10 in Sunday's victory. Oregon State has walked 26 times while opponents have been issued just five. Not surprisingly, the Beavers have a .456 on-base percentage to .358 for opponents.
Score Early
Oregon State has gotten on the board first in each of the team's three games this season. The Beavers have had a killer instinct early on, out-scoring opponents, 16-3, in the first four innings. But, OSU's opponents have scored nine of their 16 runs in the ninth inning.
Moving Up
Michael Conforto's five RBI on Sunday pushed him to 131 for his career. That's now tied with Ken Bowen (1984-87) for seventh-most by an Oregon State player. Next up is Darwin Barney (2005-07) who had 136 during his OSU career.
Singles
• Michael Howard and Logan Ice each collected their first hits since joining OSU in Sunday's victory.
• Four newcomers, Philip Belding, Trent Shelton, Chandler Eden and Mak Fox, have made their debuts out of the bullpen this weekend.
• Dylan Davis has played in all three games and has multi-RBI efforts in each.
• The Beavers are looking to go 4-0 to start a year for just the second time since 2008. It would be the 26th time it will have happened in school history.
• OSU is already 1-0 in one-run games this season. The Beavers were 14-3 in such games in 2013.
• Oregon State has yet to finish with more hits than an opponent this season.
