FRESNO, Calif. - The Oregon State women's golf team has three players in the top 22 after Monday's 36 holes of competition at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, which helped the Beavers sit in a tie for fourth place in the 15-team field with the final round slated for Tuesday.
Freshman Chelsea Saelee leads the Orange and Black after shooting a 6-over 78 in the morning round and an even-par 72 in the afternoon to put her in a tie for 10th place with a 6-over 150. It's her second career even-par round after carding a 71 at the Stanford Intercollegiate this past October.
Junior Lauren Sewell is tied for 22nd with an 8-over 76-76--152. The three golfers combined for 11 birdies in sunny, but windy conditions on the long, 36-hole day.
As a team, Oregon State shot a 29-over 306-299--605 to tie San Jose State for fourth place. Tulsa leads the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 18-over 594, Long Beach State is second with a 21-over 597 and UC Irvine is only four strokes ahead of the Beavers and Spartans with a 25-over 601.

"We played well today," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "We bounced back in the second round for a productive day. I feel like they had a great ball striking day and managed the golf course very well. Tomorrow we just need a few more putts to fall and our score should fall a bit more. I'm very proud of the team's attitude and performance today. I was very excited to see Chelsea Saelee back in the lineup and performing well."
Freshman Anica Yoo each had one of their rounds count in the team score on Monday, as the Beavers used Pickerell's 6-over 78 in the morning and Yoo's 2-over 74 in the afternoon. On the individual leaderboard, Yoo is tied for 36th with a 10-over 80-74--154 and Pickerell is tied for 42nd with an 11-over 78-77--155.
Simone Hoey of Long Beach State and Luciane Lee of UC Irvine share the clubhouse lead after posting a 3-under 141.
The final round begins at 7 a.m. on Tuesday with tee times off the first and 10th holes. The Beavers will be paired with San Jose State and Nevada and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
