TARZANA, Calif. - The Oregon State women's golf team got a solid effort from sophomore Anica Yoo on Monday to put them in sixth place at the 15-team Bruin Wave Invitational with the final round of the two-day, 54-hole tournament slated for Tuesday.
Yoo opened the tournament with an eagle on her first hole, the par-4 14th, and finished the long, 36-hole opening day with an 8-over 78-74--152 at the par-72, 6,131-yard El Caballero Country Club. Junior Seshia Telles is two strokes back after a 10-over 75-79--154 that put her in a tie for 21st place.
The Beavers finished the first 36 holes with a 46-over 310-312--622, which are six strokes behind Oklahoma State and four shots better than Long Beach State. Host UCLA leads the tournament after carding a 7-over 583, while No. 1 USC is second with a 15-over 591.

"Anica is leading the team with 78-74," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "She started the day with an eagle on her first hole, which was hole 14. This golf course requires exceptional course management skills. We learned a lot of valuable lessons today and hopefully we can take into the final round performance. Seshia was a steady factor for us today, narrowly missing some putts that could have dramatically changed her second round score. This may very well be the most demanding course we have seen all year. So how we learn from the 36 holes today will definitely influence our approach to many holes tomorrow."
Junior Lauren Sewell is tied for 26th after an 11-over 80-75--155, while freshman Ashlee Pickerell shot a 20-over 77-87--164 for a tie for 59th and freshman Chelsea Saelee finished with a 22-over 82-84--166 for a tie 65th place.
The final 18 holes of the tournament will be played on Tuesday with tee times off the first and 10th holes beginning at 7:30 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
