KAPALUA, Maui - Anica Yoo fired a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to help the Oregon State women's golf team hold its position through 36 holes at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic. The final round is scheduled for Wednesday.
The Beavers remained in 14th place among the 18-team field after finishing the second round with a 12-over 300 at the par-72, 6,036-yard Kapalua Bay Course, which was five strokes better than Monday's 17-over 305. The 29-over 605 is three strokes behind Pac-12 rival Colorado and six back of Tulsa.
"This was another day where we started really well and finished very poorly," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "We had a great opportunity today to come back from yesterday and absolutely didn't take advantage of it. We have put ourselves behind the eight ball now and will have to perform tomorrow like I know we can.
"The weather tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and windy, which will be to our advantage. We definitely need to step it up and finish in the top-10 tomorrow in order to put ourselves in position to advance to postseason. A round of 290 would greatly help our scoring average and confidence going into our last couple regular-season events. Also, we need to move ahead of schools we have a winning record against in order to stay moving in the right direction for regional selection. So our season is hinging on how we finish tomorrow. That is the reality of it."

Yoo got off to a hot start with birdies on the par-5 15th, par-5 18th and par-5 first holes to get to 3-under. She took a double-bogey on the par-3 fifth hole and a bogey on the par-4 seventh, before getting back into red figures with a birdie on her final hole of the day, the par-4 13th. The excellent round helped her make a big lead up the leaderboard, as she moved from a tie for 51st place to a tie for 29th with a 4-over 77-71--148.
It was Yoo's third sub-par round of her career, and second 1-under 71 in her sophomore campaign, with her best career round being a 2-under 70 as a freshman at last year's Wildcat Invitational.
Junior Seshia Telles had six bogeys on Tuesday, but had a timely eagle on the par-5 sixth hole, to keep her in a tie with Yoo for 29th place with a 4-over 73-75--148. Junior Lauren Sewell is five strokes back with a 9-over 76-77--153 for a tie for 49th, while freshman Ashlee Pickerell is in a tie for 62nd with a 12-over 79-77--156 and freshman Chelsea Saelee sits with a 13-over 80-77--157 for a tie for 72nd.
Senior Rachael Fischer is competing as an individual and is tied for 79th place with a pair of 79's.
The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. Hawai'i time (10:45 a.m. PT) and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
