Women's Golf Moves Up Two Spots To Finish Sixth At Peg Barnard

STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Lauren Sewell fired a 1-over 72 in the final round of the Peg Barnard Invitational on Sunday to help the Oregon State women's golf team move up two spots and finish the 36-hole tournament in sixth place.
The Beavers shot a 14-over 298 at the par-71, 6,051-yard Stanford Golf Course on Sunday and concluded the two-day event with a 31-over 301-298--599. Stanford dominated the 13-team field on its home course by finishing with a 1-over 289-280--569, which were 14 strokes better than second-place California.
"We played better today," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "We still need to work on our lag putting. We definitely got back some of the confidence and game we lost last week. I was really pleased with how they performed and think they could even expect more of themselves next week on another difficult golf course. Lauren and Seshia both stepped up their game today and finished strong."

Sewell had four birdies and five bogeys in Sunday's final round to post her best round of the spring and finish the tourney in a team-best tie for 17th place with a 7-over 77-72--149. Junior Seshia Telles knocked three strokes off her opening round and doubled her birdie output to shoot a 3-over 74 on Sunday and finish in a tie for 26th place with a 9-over 77-74--151.
Freshman Anica Yoo equaled Telles on the individual leaderboard, as each finished with a 9-over 151, with Saelee shooting 76-75 and Yoo posting 74-77 to tie for 26th.
Freshman Ashlee Pickerell, who was making her Oregon State debut this weekend after transferring from the University of Tennessee, had a tougher time on Sunday as she fell into a tie for 49th with a 15-over 74-83--157.
Mariah Stackhouse of Stanford shot an eye-popping 10-under 61 to run away with medalist honors with a 12-under 130. Regina DeGuzman of San Jose State and Demi Runas of UC Davis tied for second with a 2-under 140.
The Beavers return to action Monday, Feb. 25 and Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the Cal Classic in Pleasanton, Calif.
