ERIE, Colo. - With rain and cold temperatures taking over the second round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf West Regional in Erie, Colo., on Friday, the Oregon State women's golf team held its position on the leader board heading into Saturday's final round of the three-day, 54-hole event.
The Beavers shot a 30-over 318 on Friday at the par-72, 6,575-yard Colorado National Golf Club and sit in 22nd place with a 55-over 313-318--631, needing a historic round on Saturday to finish in the top eight and advance to NCAA Championships May 22-25 in Franklin, Tenn.
"It was not a good day for us," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "What I have asked of them for tomorrow is to walk tall, act like a champion and play that way. We have to start building the culture for next year tomorrow."

Sophomore Seshia Telles bounced back from a tough opening round to card a team-best 5-over 77 on Friday that included birdies on the par-4 first and par-4 sixth holes. She stayed away from the big numbers that hurt her in Thursday's opening round and is tied for 105th place with a 15-over 82-77--159.
Senior Whitney French had another solid round on Friday, finishing with a 6-over 78, and is Oregon State's top player on the individual leader board with a 9-over 75-78--153 for a tie for 63rd place. In Friday's second round, she had birdies on the par-4 10th and par-5 12th holes and is the lone Beavers' player without a double-bogey or worse in the tournament.
Sophomore Lauren Sewell shot a 2-over 38 on the front nine on Friday with seven pars and two bogeys and was on her way to a second consecutive 77 before taking an unfortunate triple-bogey on the par-4 18th hole. Despite the triple, she is Oregon State's second-leading player on the leader board as she sits in a tie for 95th place with a 13-over 77-80--157.
Freshman Anica Yoo, Oregon State's leader in scoring average this season, had an 11-over 83 for the second straight day that surprisingly didn't include a single birdie and is in 119th place with a 22-over 83-83--166.
Junior Rachael Fischer also shot an 11-over 83 on Friday, which included a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole, and is in 116th place with an 18-over 79-83--162.
Saturday's final round begins at 6:30 a.m. PT (7:30 a.m. local time) and the Beavers will tee off the 10th hole beginning at 11:55 a.m. PT and be paired with Northern Colorado and Jackson State.
