PULLMAN, Wash. - Anica Yoo didn't let the pressure of the big stage get to her as the freshman led the Oregon State women's golf team in the opening round of the inaugural Pac-12 Women's golf Championship in cold and windy conditions in Pullman, Wash., on Friday.
Yoo shot a 5-over 77 that included birdies on the par-3 sixth and par-4 15th holes at the par-72, 6,200-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Course and is tied for 16th place in one of the most competitive fields of the season.
As a team, the Beavers posted a 29-over 317 and sit in 10th place in the 11-team field heading into Saturday's second round of three-day, 54-hole event.

Sophomore Lauren Sewell is two strokes back of Yoo after shooting a 7-over 79 for a tie for 33rd place, while junior Rachael Fischer is in a tie for 39th place after finishing with an 8-over 80.
Two of Oregon State's most consistent golfers had tough opening rounds but are sure to bounce back the next two days as sophomore Seshia Telles shot a 9-over 81 and senior Whitney French finished with over 10-over 82 to sit in a tie for 45th and 51st place, respectively.
Arizona State leads the tournament with an 11-over 299 and the Sun Devils' Giulia Molinaro holds the individual clubhouse lead with a 1-under 71.
Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and the Beavers will be paired with Washington and Stanford with French (9:26 a.m.), Telles (9:34 a.m.), Fischer (9:42 a.m.), Sewell (9:50 a.m.) and Yoo (9:58 a.m.) going out in that order off the 10th hole.
