HALF MOON BAY, Calif. - Senior Whitney French and sophomore Seshia Telles each shot a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to help the Oregon State women's golf team equal its second-best team round in school history, an even-par 288, on the final day of the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Half Moon Bay, Calif.
The Beavers finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 26-over 302-300-288--890 at the par-72, 6,034-yard Half Moon Bay Golf Links Ocean Course to also equal their second-best three-round team score in school history and finish in 11th place in the very-competitive 15-team field.
"I was very pleased with the team's overall performance and the comeback we made today," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "We finished even-par as a team, which is a nice way to finish regular season play. Now we will begin preparing for the Pac-12 Championships in Pullman in two weeks. Practice will revolve around those preparations and focus on our putting and short game. We are hitting the ball from tee to green exceptionally well. I am very proud and pleased with the team's effort today."

Oregon State has now posted two of its best rounds in school history this season after shooting a school-record 2-under 282 in the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate in October. Tuesday's round in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate equaled the even-par round it shot at the Peg Barnard Collegiate in the spring of 2007.
The three-round school record is a 20-over 884 at the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Kauai, Hawai'i in the fall of 1998. The Beavers have shot a 26-over two other times before Tuesday -- at the Stanford Intercollegiate back in October and at the Stanford Invitational in the fall of 1997.

The 2-under 70 is a career best for French, who had posted three 1-under 71's in her Oregon State career -- as a sophomore (second round of Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah), a junior (first round of Rose City Collegiate in Portland, Ore.) and earlier this season in her senior campaign (first round of Anuenue Spring Break Classic in Kapalua, Maui).
She started on the 14th hole and was 2-over after a double-bogey on the par-4 16th hole, but battled back with birdies on the par-5 fourth, par-4 fifth, par-5 eighth and par-4 11th holes to finish the tournament in a tie for 45th place with an 8-over 77-77-70--224.
Telles had a bogey-free round on Tuesday that included birdies on the par-3 seventh and par-5 eighth holes to card her second-best career round after posting a 3-under 68 in the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate back in October. She was the highest finisher among Oregon State golfers on the individual leader board, taking home a tie for 22nd with a 3-over 74-75-70--219.
"Today, Seshia and Whitney showed tremendous improvements in their rounds to both shoot a 2-under par 70," Alexander said. "There were major significant scoring improvements made by both of them, which really helped our team shoot one of the best rounds in school history."
Freshman Anica Yoo was steady as usual, as she posted a 2-over 74 on Tuesday, and finished in a tie for 40th place with a 7-over 76-73-74--223, the second-best finish among Beavers' golfers. Sophomore Lauren Sewell had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday to tie French for 45th place with an 8-over 75-75-74--224.
UCLA won the team title with a 15-under 280-283-286--849 and the Bruins' Erynne Lee won medalist honors with a 9-under 68-68-71--207.
The Beavers look to carry the momentum from Tuesday's outstanding round to the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships, which will be held Friday through Sunday, April 27-29, at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Wash.
