TEMPE, Ariz. - Senior Whitney French and sophomores Seshia Telles and Lauren Sewell each shot a 7-over 78 on Saturday to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the second round of the 38th Annual PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.
As a team, the Beavers had a tough day in 92-degree weather as they finished with a 29-over 313 at the par-71, 6,121-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course and sit in 17th place with a 51-over 306-313--619 heading into Sunday's final round of the three-day, 54-hole event.
"Well, I can't really say at this point what's going on with the team," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "They hit more greens today than yesterday and managed their emotions. We are moving past this and preparing for tomorrow's round. They are aware of the problem areas with course strategies and have to manage the golf course with better plans. We will regroup and bring our `A' game tomorrow and in the next event."
Sewell led Oregon State with four birdies on Saturday -- coming on the par-4 second, par-3 seventh, par-4 eighth and par-5 14th holes -- but she also had four bogies, two doubles and a triple and sits in a tie for 83rd place with a 15-over 79-78--157.

Telles is tied for 67th on the individual leader board, the highest among the five Beavers' golfers, with a 10-over 74-78--152, while French is two strokes back with a 12-over 76-78--154 and is tied for 74th.
Freshman Anica Yoo is tied for 80th with a 14-over 77-79--156 and junior Rachael Fischer is in a tie for 88th with a 19-over 81-80--161.
The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday off the first and 10th holes and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
