Kapalua, MAUI - Senior Whitney French posted her fourth career top-10 finish, and first this season, to help the Oregon State women's golf team finish in a tie for seventh place at the inaugural Anuenue Spring Break Classic in Kapalua, Maui on Tuesday.
The Beavers concluded the two-day, 54-hole tournament with 56-over 305-300-315--920 at the par-72, 6,022-yard Kapalua Bay Course to finish in the middle of the pack, and tied with their rival Oregon Ducks, in the 14-team field.
"Today the team started out poorly in the first three or four holes and we also finished poorly," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "There were a couple of holes in the middle where we played fairly decent and the team was able to come back a little. But we just finished horribly.
"The main reason for the lack of performance was due to our putting, which is where we needed to be the strongest," she added. "Overall, it's a disappointing finish when we really had an opportunity to finish well in this tournament. The team needs to focus and prepare themselves for the ASU tournament."
