Beavers' Men's Championship 4 boat finishes with a time of 18:33.99 at the Head of the Charles Regatta
BOTSON, Mass. – Navigating the Charles River for the very first time, OSU men's coxswain Eric Sumner led his boat to a final time of 18:33.99 in the Men's Championship 4, Sunday afternoon in Boston. The boat comprised of Chad Swenson (Stroke), Martin Forde, Bryce Fransen and Brad Buser (Bow) finished in 18th place in the event, which was raced during a blustery day in Beantown.
"It was a hard race for the team out here in Boston,” said Head Coach Steve Todd. “The race never unfolded like they wanted and the windy conditions were a little too much of a factor for us. There's a lot of work to be done to get ready for Portland Fall Classic next Sunday."
Also competing during the weekend was OSU volunteer assistant coach Rich Montgomery who finished fifth overall out of 19 in the Men's Master Singles with a time of 19:47.16. Montgomery had won the Head of the Charles Lightweight Single three times previously.
Steve Todd's crew will be back in the water next weekend as they compete in the Portland Fall Classic along with the OSU women. Both teams will bring boats to the Rose City Sunday, Oct. 28 to put in the Willamette River.
