
Swim Team Defeats Washington State 143-119.

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Oregon State swim team defeated the Washington State Cougars 143-119 tonight in a Pac-12 dual meet. This is the Beavers' fifth dual win this season.
The Beavers performance was highlighted by yet another set of dual wins by Crystal Kibby. Kibby won the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley. She finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.85 and the 200-yard breaststroke 1:19.26. This is the third week in a row that Kibby has won three events.
"Crystal is becoming a great competitor," head coach Larry Liebowitz said. "It was an overall excellent day for the Beavers."
Dakota Bloch, Jenni Dole and Rachel O'Brien also won two dual wins each. Bloch finished first in the 1000 and 500-yard freestyle while O'Brien finished first in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly. Bloch's time of 10:19.58 in the 1000-yard freestyle was her fastest of the season.
Dole finished the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.59 and completed the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.86. O'Brien claimed her first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.79 and finished the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.27.
Other notable performances by the Beavers tonight included a first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle by Shelby Webber and a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle by Allison Gillespie. Gillespie finished the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.30 and Webber finished the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.96.
"We won ten events today," Liebowitz said. "The team really stood up and raced well today. We had a lot of dual meet bests."
The Beavers finished in second place in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Dole, Webber, O'Brien and Kibby finished in second during the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:45.94. O'Brien, Gillespie, Dole and Ocean Trail finished in second during the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:30.76.
The Oregon State swim team will return to action tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in Moscow, Idaho when they are set to take on the Idaho Vandals. Fans can check www.osubeavers.com following the meet for results.
