Carlyle, Stangel Qualify for 1,500 Finals at Pac-10 Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. - Laura Carlyle and Krista Stangel advanced to the 1,500-meter finals with top 12 finishes in the preliminary rounds Friday at the Pacific-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.
Junior Laura Carlyle earned an automatic qualifying bid to the 1,500 event finals on Saturday with a third place finish in her heat with a time of 4:34.43. The top four finishers in each heat automatically qualified for the finals along with the next four best times.
Krista Stangel ran one of the next four best times in the 1,500 to qualify for the event finals Friday. She ran her race in a time of 4:36.44. Audrey Botti just missed qualifying for the finals with a time of 4:38.47.
Olivia Poblacion finished 15th in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 11:36.79.
Oregon State football student-athletes Keynan Parker and Markus Wheaton ran the 100-meter dash on Friday and finished with times of 10.72 and 11.70 respectively and did not qualify for the event finals on Saturday. Fellow teammate Obum Gwacham finished tied for 11th in the high jump with a height of 6-09.00.

ROOT Sports will air a two-hour tape delayed show Thursday, May 19 at 5 p.m. Paul Sunderland and Joanna Hayes will call the action, while color commentary will be provided by Tom Feuer. Samantha Steele will provide additional commentary from the infield.
The Oregon State women's track team will compete again on Saturday in the final day of the Pac-10 Track and Field Championships in the women's high jump, 1,500 finals and the 5,000 finals.
