LOS ANGELES - Four different players tallied at least two hits as the third-ranked Oregon State baseball team finished with 14 Sunday, but the Beavers dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 24 UCLA at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
Jared Norris and Ryan Barnes each tallied three hits for Oregon State, which, despite Sunday's loss, took the series after winning 7-5 Friday and 2-0 Saturday on Josh Osich's no-hitter.
Kavin Keyes and Danny Hayes both had two hits for OSU as well. Eight different players finished with at least one in the loss.
Oregon State starter Ben Wetzler lasted 5 1/3 innings in his 12th appearance and eighth start of the season Sunday. He allowed five hits and three runs to go along with three walks and two strikeouts.
UCLA got to Wetzler with a run-scoring double in the fifth, then added to its tally with four runs in the sixth. The first two were charged to Wetzler after Scott Schultz allowed a two-run double. The final two of the inning were charged to Schultz after OSU's next reliever, Matt Boyd, allowing a single through the right side that scored two.
Wetzler took the loss and fell to 5-2 this season.
The win went to UCLA starter Adam Plutko, who improved to 3-3 this season after allowing just two runs in 6 1/3 innings. He allowed nine hits and two walks while striking out six.
Nick Vander Tuig recorded the last five outs for UCLA to claim his fifth save of the season.
Oregon State scored its lone runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Parker Berberet flew out to center on a sacrifice fly in the sixth to tie the score, 1-1.
In the seventh, and with OSU down 5-1, Norris singled to left, bringing home Barnes.
UCLA managed just seven hits off six OSU pitchers, but walked seven times. Chris Giovinazzo led the Bruins with two while Trevor Brown had two.
UCLA improved to 23-16 this season (11-7 Pacific-10 Conference) as the Bruins were able to fend off the sweep. Oregon State, meanwhile, dropped to 32-9 and 12-3 in Pac-10 play, which leads the league by half a game.
The Beavers return to action again Tuesday when Oregon State hosts Oregon at Goss Stadium. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT.
