Women's Golf Completes Opening Round At PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Oregon State women's golf team finished the opening round of the 37th Annual PING/ASU Invitational on Friday with a 19-over 307 at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.
The Beavers are in 16th place after the first round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament that features nine teams ranked in the Top 25. Four players shot in the 70's at the par-72, 6,230-yard layout, led by a 3-over 75 by freshman Seshia Telles, who is tied for 42nd overall.
Sophomore Rachael Fischer shot a 4-over 76 for a tie for 55th, junior Whitney French is tied for 63rd with a 5-over 77 and freshman Lauren Sewell had a 7-over 79 for a tie for 78th to round-out the Beavers team scoring in the opening round.
Top-ranked UCLA leads the tournament with a 12-under 276, while No. 2 USC is five strokes back after a 7-under 281. Tiffany Lua of UCLA shot a 5-under 67 for the clubhouse lead, while teammate Lee Lopez, Sophia Popov of USC and Madison Pressel of Texas are all tied for second with a 3-under 69.
The second round begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday and live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
