SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Oregon State women's golf team improved its score by 17 strokes on Tuesday and moved up three spots at the 15-team Bruin Wave Invitational.
Every Oregon State golfer improved their round from Monday as the Beavers shot a 16-over 304 in the second round at the par-72, 6,282-yard Valley Course at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club and are currently in 12th place.
"We still have room for improvement but their course management was much better today, which paid off in a big way on several holes," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "We will continue to insist that they focus on managing their game to fit their strengths. We have been working on this and hopefully, this is the beginning of a change in direction for them."
Sophomore Rachael Fischer continued her strong play with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday and sits in a tie for 23rd place with a 7-over 77-74--151. Freshman Seshia Telles knocked two strokes off her first round score and is tied for 34th with a 10-over 78-76--154, while junior Whitney French and freshman Lauren Sewell both fired a 5-over 77 in the second round and are tied for 50th and 73rd, respectively.
