Women's Golf Concludes First Event Of The Spring Season

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Oregon State women's golf team wrapped up its first event of the spring season with a 15th place finish at the Wildcat Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the par-72, 6,273-yard Golf Club at Vistoso.
The first two rounds were supposed to be played on Monday, but inclement weather forced the second round to be finished early Tuesday morning. The Beavers finished with a 96-over 320-315-325--960 at the two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by the University of Arizona.
Junior Whitney French led Oregon State with a 16-over 78-74-80--232 for a tie for 38th overall, while freshman Lauren Sewell was one stroke behind at 17-over 77-76-80-233 to finish in a tie for 40th.
Freshman Seshia Telles shot a team-best 79 in the final round, under extremely windy conditions, to finish tied for 66th at 26-over 80-83-79--242. Sophomore transfer Rachael Fischer shot a 41-over 89-82-86--257 in her first Oregon State appearance.
Arizona finished first in the 16-team field with an 11-over 286-286-303--875 and Isabelle Boineau of Arizona won medalist honors with a 4-under 69-70-73--212.
The Beavers return to action Feb. 28 to March 2 at the Bruin Wave Invitational at Santa Clarita, Calif.
