AS A SOPHOMORE (2001): Officially competed on beam in two meets (when teammate Lindsay Nelson was out with an ankle sprain), although she fell in both those competitions... Also performed five exhibition routines on that event, with four marks of 9.80 or higher (with a high of 9.90). .. Performed three exhibition bar routines early in the season, with a high of 9.55... Named a second team Pac-10 All-Academic pick and an NACGC/W Scholastic All-American.
AS A FRESHMAN (2000): Performed four exhibition routines on bars but never made the official lineup... Her best score was a 9.475 against Arizona... Was named the team's Most Inspirational Gymnast as well as the team's Outstanding Scholar Athlete... Awarded the Waldo Cummings Award, an honor given by the university each year to students who show excellence both academically and in extracurricular involvement... Was also a recipient of the university's Drucilla Shephard Smith Scholastic Award.
PRE-OREGON STATE: Two-time Level 10 national qualifier... Was the 1999 regional champion on bars and the 1998 regional champion on beam... Placed first on vault, bars, beam and all-around at the 1999 Level 10 state championship... Who's Who Among America's High School Students... Female Scholar Athlete of the Year... Graduated from Sheldon High School with a 4.00 grade point average... Chose OSU for "the combination of a great gymnastics team and a great pre-therapy program."
PERSONAL: Born in Eugene... Daughter of Janice and Doug Suratt... Has four brothers and sisters (Erin, Angela, Cory and Benjamin)... Is majoring in exercise and sport science and would like to become a physical therapist... Is a former club teammate of former Beavers Katrina Severin and Danae Phillips.
