Swimming Comes Up Short in the Desert

TEMPE, Ariz. - Jenni Dole and Rachel O'Brien both bring home event wins but the Oregon State women's swim team falls to Arizona State and Utah Sunday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz.
Arizona State outscored Oregon State by a score of 189-73 while the Beavers fell to the Utah Utes by a score of 165-97.
O'Brien continues to do well getting a win for the Beavers in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.19. Junior Dole continues to shine as well in the 100 backstroke with a first place finish with a time of 56.72.
Both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams placed third. Dole, Arianna Gorenc, O'Brien, and Keri Holmstrom teamed up for a time of 1:46.64 in the 200 medley relay. With a time of 1:38.76, Holmstrom, Ocean Trail, Carrie Kelsey, and Gorenc finished third in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Beavers next jump into the pool on Friday, January 28th at 5pm when they host their first dual meet of the year against Washington State. The next day, January 29th at 11am, the team will host Idaho. Both meets will be held in the Stevens Natatorium in at Dixon Recreation Center.
