Women's Golf Tied for Fourth Through First Day at Circling Raven Invitational

The Oregon State women's golf team is tied for fourth place after two rounds of play Monday at the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational. After leading through 18 holes, the Beavers trail BYU by only nine strokes heading into final round action Tuesday.
"Our scoring needs to improve tomorrow especially in the third and fourth spots," head coach Ris¸ Alexander said. "I believe this team is capable of shooting a round in the low 290's."
OSU freshmen Seshia Telles and Lauren Sewell along with junior Whitney French led the Beavers on Day One. Telles and French were consistent for Oregon State carding scores of 4-over-par (74-74) 148 and 5-over (75-74) 149 respectively. Sewell fired an opening round 1-over 73, the best round of the day for OSU, before finishing the day tied for 16th at (73-78) 151. Telles is tied for seventh and French is tied for 11th.
Junior Elyse Okada finished the day at 17-over (79-83) 162 and senior Kristina Gargaro is at 22-over (84-82) 166.
"Putting was our nemesis today," Alexander said. "But they worked on that this evening. I'm encouraged by their resolve to come back and work on things this tonight after playing 36 holes today."
On Monday, the first day of a two-day, 54-hole tournament, teams played two rounds of 18 holes at the Circling Raven Golf Course, which is a par-72, 6,106-yard course.
