On not being able to hold the lead ...
"When you're trying to do some things that you're not used to doing, like playing fast, you make the kind of mistakes that we made. We had some very critical turnovers during that time where we were doing things that we don't normally do when we have a lead. As much as we try to get the guys to understand the difference in playing a certain way at a certain time, we can't forget what got us to where we are."
On why those mistakes were made down the stretch ...
"I don't want to blame this on the youth of our team, because we had some veterans out there making some bad plays. I felt like we were trying to make the hard play when we didn't have to. We would have been better to let the shot clock run down and miss the shot than throw the ball away. There were times when it looked like we played with the kind of composure to get the lead and once we got the lead, we started doing things that you would do to lose a game. We still have a lot of work to do. These are young guys and that's what happens."
On going to the 1-3-1 when the team fell behind by seven points ...
"So many people prepare for it so we thought we wouldn't start out with it so we could match-up with their shooters. When we switched to the 1-3-1 later on, it was effective. When we came back to it in the second half, I think I came back to it too late. If I had come to it a little sooner, we could have changed the tempo of the game. They were having such a hard time scoring against our 2-3, I didn't want to necessarily go to the 1-3-1 just for the sake of change."
On the mood of the team ...
"In that locker room you have quite a few guys who are feeling the effects of not playing their best for the full 40 minutes. In order to win games in our league, you can't play portions of a game. We talked to them about that. We need to get a solid effort from everybody all of the time."
On the missed layups ...
"This is our first road game and I think there a bit of nerves there. But I just think we didn't take our time and make sure those shots went in the basket. That's what you have to do if you want to be a good team. You have to make those shots. You have to make your layups. Then we'd be riding home happy instead of sad."
On Sunday's Nike N7 game against Texas Southern ...
"We are very excited to be partnered with Nike on such a great initiative and a great cause to get athletics to Native Americans and Aboriginal youths who don't have access to athletics and all of the wonderful things that athletics brings to the table. We want to win the game. We have to be focused on the game. But we are really excited to be one of the first people to bring awareness to this issue."
