OREGON STATE HEAD COACH Craig Robinson
On the game...
"Any time you hold them as a team to 48 you have to win that game. I'm disappointed on a lot of levels. I don't think we were mentally prepared to play tonight. I think our effort was terrific. But mentally, to beat a team that is ranked 24th in the country, you cannot make as many mistakes as we made. You cannot give up as many offensive boards as we did. We had out-rebounded them until the last four minutes of the game. If you want to beat teams like this you cannot play that way."
On execution tonight...
"We missed a lot of easy layups. We got exactly what we practiced for and we didn't execute. This was one of the few games where we executed our stuff but didn't finish. You cannot be satisfied with losing to a top-25 team by 11. I'm not satisfied; they know I'm not satisfied."
On ASU's Jeff Pendergraph in the second half...
"It was a couple of things. They did a great job of making an adjustment. We are relying on Roeland [Schaftenaar] for everything. He's become quite the shot blocker, quite the offensive force and I think we left him in there alone with him [Pendergraph] a little more than we should have. I'll take the blame for that."
OREGON STATE GUARD Rickey Claitt
On the Beavers difficulties with Arizona State's matchup zone...
"They have been doing it for two years now, and they have gotten really good at it. But it still comes down to us having 12 turnovers and not getting enough offensive rebounds."
On the shots taken on the offensive end...
"We did have some open looks, we just didn't make them. And in order to beat the Arizona States and the UCLAs you have to make shots. Especially when you hold Arizona State to 49 points, and you hold their best player (James Harden) to nine when he is averaging 22. I think we did a great job on Harden, and we just let other players step up like (Jamelle) McMillan and we didn't close out on them. They made the open shots and we didn't."
On the defensive effort...
"I think we did a tremendous job, but in the second half when they did miss they got the offensive rebounds. It was like we were still playing good defense, but the difference in the first half was getting the rebounds. In the second half they got the rebounds."
OREGON STATE FORWARD Kevin McShane
On moving on after this game...
"We just have to get past this weekend and focus on the Washington schools. Like Rickey (Claitt) said they are both really good teams. They are going to be tough games to play, because they are away, and they are pretty hard places to play. So we have to focus on those teams and get to work."
On the defensive effort...
"We played really good defense. We held them to a decent amount of points (49). We just have to execute on offense and create a few turnovers and make some assists and just do what we do and get better."
