STANFORD, Calif.- - The Oregon State women's golf team fell three places on the leaderboard Sunday and finished tied for 11th in the Peg Barnard Collegiate at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course. The Beavers posted a two-round total of 637.
Leading OSU was freshman Jessi Gebhardt, who fired a final-round 78 and finished tied for 28th with a 154. This was Gebhardt's second-best finish of the year.
One stroke behind was freshman Julie Uhrik, who finished tied for 30th at 155. Uhrik led the team after an opening-round 74, then posted an 81 on Sunday.
"We didn't have as good of a day as we did yesterday," Coach Risë Lakowske said.
"The girls were under a lot of pressure knowing that all four scores counted since Jill (Ferrante) was unable to compete."
Ninth-ranked Washington (Golfweek) was able to hold off rival Washington State to win the team title by three strokes with a 3-over 587. Host Stanford finished third, six strokes behind the Huskies.
The Cougars' Kim Welch repeated as individual medalist after posting a 2-under 140, which was the only individual total under par and included a first-round 5-under 66. Washington's Paige Mackenzie placed second at 143.
Senior Alex Lucio tied for 52nd and senior Kelly Kerkvliet finished in a tie for 59th.
Sophomore Jill Ferrante withdrew due to an injury suffered during Saturday's round.
The Beavers now look forward to the Pac-10 Championships, hosted by California. Competition will be held Apr. 18-20 at the Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton, Calif.
"We'll have to prepare for the Pac-10s and hopefully Jill and Leah will be back in the lineup next week to give us a boost," added Lakowske.
