TEMPE, Ariz.- -
Senior Laura Skinner and freshman Lindsay Eide both posted two-round totals of 9-over 153 Saturday to lead OSU after two rounds at the PING/ASU Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course. The Beavers are in 13th place with one round to play. Skinner and Eide are both tied for 47th.
Junior Alex Lucio is just one stroke behind Skinner and Eide with a 154, including an opening round 76, which ties her best round of the year.
"The main thing is that we hit the ball well today, but we just didn't score great," said OSU head coach Ris? Lakowske.
"The other teams' scores were really low today, so ours didn't look that great.
"I think if we hit the ball as well as we did today and make more putts tomorrow, we can finish in a good place."
After thunderstorms cut short first-round play on Friday, USC came out firing early Saturday morning and captured the first-round lead with a 5-over 293. However, UCLA used an impressive afternoon round of 4-under 284 to vault into first place with a two-round total of 579, just three strokes ahead of first-round leader USC.
Washington's Paige Mackenzie holds the individual lead after two rounds with a 2-under 140. She is one stroke ahead of Pepperdine's Carolina Llano.
Sophomore Leah Whiting posted a 155 and is tied for 63rd and senior Kelly Ferris is tied for 89th with a 164.
The final round begins Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. PST.
