OSU Finishes Tied For 10th At Spartan Invitational

SALINAS, Calif.- -
Sophomore Leah Whiting and freshman Lindsay Eide both finished in the top 30 to lead the Beavers in the final round Wednesday of the Spartan Invitational, hosted by San Jose State.
OSU and Pepperdine tied for 10th place with three-round total scores of 923.
Whiting fired a 1-over 73 in the final round and ended up tied for 25th place, her best finish of the year.
Eide, after firing an even-par 72 in Tuesday's afternoon round, carded a 5-over 77 Wednesday and finished tied for 29th, also her best finish of the season.
Second-ranked UCLA (Golfweek) came into Wednesday's round with a nine stroke advantage and cruised to the win, posting a three-round total of 6-under 858, 21 strokes ahead of second-place UNLV. First-round leader California (ranked 6th) finished in third.
For the second consecutive round, UCLA had three players in the top five and did not have to record a round above par.
UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas took the second-round lead Tuesday after posting a 5-under 67 and held on Wednesday to edge out teammate Krystal Shearer by one stroke and take home individual medalist honors. Mayorkas posted a 5-under 211.
Junior Alex Lucio fired a final-round 77 and tied for 47th with a 233, her best finish of the year.
Senior Laura Skinner carded a total score of 236 and finished tied for 54th.
Anna Rosvall, competing in just her third tournament of the year, finished tied for 68th with a 244.
OSU plays next at the Texas Invitational, Mar. 21-23.
