Beavers Finish 11th at OSU Invitational

Senior Laura Skinner led the Oregon State women's "A" golf team with a tie for 19th as the Beavers finished 11th Tuesday at the Oregon State Invitational at the Woodlands Course in Sunriver, Ore.
UNLV fought off cold, rainy weather on the par-72 track and maintained a 12-shot lead over Texas Christian for the win with a score of 905.
TCU's Brooke Tull captured medalist honors, holding off San Francisco's Kristi Larsen for a one-stroke win with a 219. Larsen closed with a 68 Tuesday.
Portland State's 927 was good for a third-place finish; San Francisco and UC-Irvine tied for fourth at 931.
Freshman Jill Ferrante, playing on OSU's "B" team, was the low OSU player overall, shooting a 232 to tie for 16th in her first career tournament.
The Beavers entered the final round in sixth place, but shot 325 Tuesday for a total of 950.
Alex Lucio was the only Beaver on OSU's "A" team to break 80 Tuesday, shooting 78 to finish at 244 and tie for 51st. Skinner opened with a 77 and 75, but carded an 81 in the final round for a total of 233.
Leah Whiting tied for 26th with a 235. Kelly Ferris shot 243 and Anna Rosvall 250.
The "B" team, consisting of Ferrante, Lindsay Eide, Holly Cornell, Kelly Kerkvliet and Rebekah Saxon, tied for 13th with a score of 961.
The Beavers play next at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Invitational Sept. 26-27.
